It's been awhile since I've mentioned Vandelay Design here in my introduction to 5 for Friday. But this week Steven's article about 21 ways to communicate with visitors is worth mentioning. A lot of the links on 5 for Friday focus on technical design skills, but if after applying all these skills our sites don't effectively communicate then it doesn't really matter.

The 10 promising CMS systems are misleading. I wonder how many people will go ahead and try them and then get stuck with a system that is no longer supported, or has a tiny support community. For client work, I would tend to recommend the big names (wordpress, joomla, etc). I know all CMS started small but I woudln't want to take chances with smaller new comers. p.s. I saw the newspaper designs and loved them... gotta love the grids...
