  • I've been thinking a lot this week about how we have all these different definitions of design in our culture. It's interesting that we can make a living as designers and be so confused about what design is. This will be the topic in the first part of the Mirificam Press video series to be released in the next month or so. For now, here are this week's 5 for Friday.

  • There were some great programming articles posted this week. I highly recommend bookmarking the PHP code snippet article as I've found myself at one time or another, using just about every function on the list. The lazy load article by David Walsh is another really interesting concept. It seems like a great solution for high traffic sites. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • If you check out only one link on 5 for Friday this week, check out the 20 tools for freelancers article. You're probably familiar with a lot of the tools on the list, but I think you'll find a bunch of new and exciting ones as well. Production continues on the Mirificam Press video series. Right now I'm shooting video and editing title screens and graphics. Shouldn't be too much longer before it's ready to go. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • There were some really great articles to choose from this week on 5 for Friday. I'm especially enjoying seeing all the cool new stuff that's being done with jQuery right now. It seems like jQuery is growing into a viable Flash alternative that can also be standards compliant. Very cool. And now this week's 5 for Friday.

  • Getting back into the usual swing this week on Mirificam Press with Web Design: The Ephemeral Art. Most of the links I stumbled across this week have been fun stuff—nothing too deep this week. If you, get a chance, check out the new design on designbump.com. It's quite an improvement over past iterations. Now, here are this week's 5 for Friday.

  • Well, I've officially finished the Mirificam Press interview series that started in May. It's been an educational experience for me and a lot of fun. I want to thank everyone who was featured. I've posted the whole series on the Series and Study page if you'd like a retrospective on the whole series. Now my big focus is getting this video series finished up. I have the whole thing written and all of my illustrations designed. Now I just have to shoot the video! Here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • This is my first 5 for Friday post in a few weeks so I thought I'd do a little penance by extending the usual five links to eight. I'm excited about jumping back into the saddle on Mirificam Press because I know there are some new and interesting things on the horizon, not the least of which is the upcoming video series. Travel and vacationing for the rest of the summer will be minimal so expect to see the regular release of articles in the coming months.

  • Another installment of the Mirificam Press interview series has come and gone. Thanks to M. Joshua Cauller for participating this week; just two more interviews to go. There were some very interesting articles in the design blogosphere this week. The My Ink Blog post about the left-brained / right-brained paradox is a good read, although I admit I'm not in complete agreement. Also, make sure to check out the jQuery plugin linknotify() by Brian Cray.

  • As has become the recent ritual here on 5 for Friday, I'd like to start by thanking Molly E. Holzschlag, the most recent interviewee in the Mirificam Press interview series. I have just a few more interviews to go and I have to admit, I'm nowhere near the place I'd like to be on the development of the video series. I had to scrap my first attempt, but I think all the work and frustration will be well worth it in the end. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • It's been another great week in the world of web design. I found the articles in the web design blogosphere especially thoughtful this week. PSD Tuts + posted a great article on typography basics and A List Apart produced its usual A-list material. Special thanks to Jonathan Snook for participating in the interview series this week. Here are this week's 5 for Friday.
