  • Well, already finished with part one and part two of the new video series. Thanks for the great response here, on Facebook, on Twitter, and on Vimeo. I've enjoyed the discussion. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • I'm proud to announce that the shooting for the Mirificam Press video series is complete and I'll be spending the next couple of weeks editing the final product. It's going to be a five-part series. Each part in the series will be 10-15 minutes long for a total of about an hour. I'm considering selling the whole series on DVD as well. More to come on that. It's bee a long process, much longer than I ever anticipated, but I think the final product has been worth the effort. But I guess that will be for you to decide. And now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • I've been thinking a lot this week about how we have all these different definitions of design in our culture. It's interesting that we can make a living as designers and be so confused about what design is. This will be the topic in the first part of the Mirificam Press video series to be released in the next month or so. For now, here are this week's 5 for Friday.

  • When we think of world changers through history, our minds instinctively turn to primary causes. Stories of Hitlers, Alexanders, and Napoleans intrigue us and shape our understanding of why things are the way they are. In most cases, though, it's secondary causes that are most necessary to the outcome of history. Philosophers, inventors, writers, and martyrs; these are the figures, without which our world would would be a very different place. These silent shapers converge and collide, many times unwittingly, to channel and shape the events and leaders of the future. I realize that pegging "web worker" as the most important job of the 21st century is quite a claim, but many signs point to the web worker as the secondary cause of the next generation's cultural atmosphere. Not only that, the web worker may be the most unexpected and unacknowledged secondary cause of change the world has ever known.
