  • You've probably noticed that there haven't been any new articles on Mirificam in a few months. I've been working on a side project that's taken up most of my time. I'm getting close to finishing, though, and I should be unveiling the new project here in the next couple of weeks. For now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • I'd like to start out this post by apologizing for getting 5 for Friday up late that last two weeks. My wife and I have a new baby in the house (our third) and that change of schedule/lack of sleep has taken its toll. There were some great articles this week. Tips for Sending Valid Emails from Websites I found especially helpful. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • This was the week of quirky design resources and data visualization tools. It's funny how article topics tend to come in waves. I also enjoyed the code from WebM.ag for switching stylesheets on a page dynamically depending on the time of day. It's an idea I've played around with for years but never seem to be able to get a client to go for it. Anyway, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • I came across an interesting article this week called The Death of Originality in Design - Coming to Terms. Other than Andy Rutledge's work over at Design View, this has to be one the most well-thought-out articles I've read on design in years. I happen to disagree with its conclusion, but I still appreciate the effort. It brings up and interesting question for the Christian worldview: Is true originality possible? Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • I'm back from a couple weeks off with a great 5 for Friday list. After updating most of the classic Mirificam Press articles, I'm looking forward to new content in 2010. I've been spending quite a bit of time over the last few month researching visual story-telling and I'll be launching a series of articles on that topic in the next few months. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • Since this is the last 5 for Friday before the Christmas holiday and the new year, Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. A List Apart Released its annual web designer survey this week so make sure you head over there and fill it out; it's the first link on the list. In a few months when they tabulate the data we can all measure our incomes against the national average. Can't wait! Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • Special thanks to Nate Ernst and M. Joshua Cauller for sharing the first two links with me this week on Facebook. The "How a Web Design Goes Straight to Hell" article is really making the rounds in the web design community, but if you haven't already seen it, it's hilarious. So true. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • I took last week off for Thanksgiving but I'm back again now with 5 for Friday and updates to classic Mirificam Press articles. This week I updated Beautiful CSS: Organizing Your Stylesheets and Designers Beware: 10 Warning Signs of a Bad Client so check those out if you've never had a chance to read them. And now here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • Well, this week I made changes and updates to my archived article 9 Web Design No Nos for the Newbie. This one was a little bit more difficult because I really wanted to increase the list to about 20 no nos. Apparently I've grown in my understanding of no nos over the last couple years. But in the end I decided to retain the title and expand on the nine that are already there. If you've never read it, please check it out. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.

  • Continuing my Mirificam Press update project this week, I made some changes and updates to Pay Me Please: A Freelance Web Designer's Guide to Billing and Pricing and 7 Reasons You Shouldn't Charge by the Hour. Check them out if you got on board Mirificam Press Recently. Now, here's this week's 5 for Friday.
